Groucho Marx
Julius Henry "Groucho" Marx (October 2nd 1890 – August 19th 1977) An American comedian, actor, writer, stage, film, radio, television star and vaudeville performer; and with his brothers a member of the truly wonderful Marx Brothers.
He is considered to have been a master of quick wit and one of America's greatest comedians, and I don’t think that giving him enough credit.
As part of the Marx Brothers he enjoyed huge success, and followed this with a solo career, on both radio and television. Perhaps his biggest and best remembered show was with You Bet Your Life in which Groucho would mostly chat with members of the public.
An exaggerated stooped posture, spectacles, cigar, and a thick greasepaint moustache and eyebrows epitomise comedy to this day.
Expect us to soon publish photos of Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo soon. The hardest choice we’ve had when it came to choosing just one of his quotes!
